Tommy Boy

He is ALMOST TWO?!?!?!? Just 6 more days....

Okay...real quick....since Tommy has had a fever ever since Wednesday that I know of. Our thermometer was lost and I bought a new one to find out that yes, Tommy indeed had a fever and so did Kimberlyn!

Anyhow he's had a nasty snotty nose and looked sick in general since Monday. I took him in to let the doctor give him a listen...he's fine, just sick ;)

I got good info to help ease my mind on his health. It was great to see his PCM for my questions today. He feels Tommy is at no greater risk of RSV than any other 2 year old. I have no desire to see how we could get through another hospitalization again. So, that was great news. So, maybe I can relax when he has these week long snotty fests now. He wasn't concerned with his fever....highest it's been this week was 100.5, he wants him back if he spikes anything high.

He took this visit and made it his 24 month well child appt...yes, I chuckled as he is not a well child right now ;)

Tommy is 24 lbs 2ozs...this was undressed with just a dry diaper...I'm very pleased. He measured out to be 33 1/2 inches...unless he kicked one time too hard, boy he was not happy with that tech today :)

He's right around the 25th percentile for height and weight....just perfect!

I had to fill out this questionnaire form asking all types of what my child does when... and such. It had 5 different categories ranging from communicative (speech) to fine/gross motor skills.

Tommy scored just below the cut off for "normal" on the communicative one (obviously, we know he's slightly behind in speech- I found it interesting according to this form, he's not FAR behind at all) He scored above his age in everything else...I am quite proud. The doctor said he is "exceptionally advanced for his age" -I'm guessing only a preemie mom can totally understand the joy those words bring to my ears! I commented, you all know I don't think Tommy needs speech therapy, that this would explain why he's delayed in speech. His wheels are turning and he's more concerned with his motor skills! Seriously....the Early Intervention lady told me to not expect any new words when he started to walk. They focus on one area at a time...so he's letting out words ever so slowly for us while he is consumed with other things...like how to unscrew Mommy's make-up remover cap to dump it on the carpet...and how to take Daddy's electric razor APART and cleanse it in the TOILET!!! He tried hard to cover that one up...I found the actual razor head in the TRASH CAN...

Boy was it fun. Robby deemed it boring and only came out of hiding to get a dose or two of ICING, the best part :)

Although, it was hard and he ate MANY...he also learned that touching it got him icing and that was just as good as the candy to him!

It's Christmas time...

This is what I did all morning...packed up all these packages to send to our dear family....I LOVE giving, but could pass on shipping. How 'bout Christmas at our house next year ;)

Seriously, we got some ice the other night. The kids have been enjoying "ice-skating" on our patio and driveway, I cringe at the thought of them falling. The poor dog fell and tumbled down the two steps to out the back door yesterday...I felt horrible and she looked pitiful. I think it's more slippery today. It made me dislike the shipping part even MORE!

Yes, I fell! Another point to my husband that I don't care how bad the Ice Melt stuff is for the enviroment, it's much better than the driveway was to my BUTT today! I will be purchasing some next time I see it at the store...

All eight packages are in the mail...sent with warm loving feelings to our sweet family...I sent no sore feelings about my fall, I promise!

My Birthday Girl...is NINE!!! (almost)

Kaitlyn had a very fun birthday party on Friday night. Dinner at Pizza Hut and then a sleep over... It was great to see her have so much fun! Last year was a mom n' me trip to Chicago. Her last birthday party was in October (THANK GOD) 2006, she wanted a nice weather-outside party....who'd have known I would be hospitalized pregnant with Tommy on her actual birthday that year. We should be out of town closing on our house for her real birthday this year...

Kaitlyn BEGGED for this pink cash register....Grandpa Nance had the hit of the presents...she still has a few more presents from family for her real birthday...

Random Early December pictures....

First...Tommy hooted and hollered for a FORK....I finally gave in and he "showed" me he could in fact eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a FORK?!?!? He knows what he wants and is persistent...

Tommy more interested in his cereal snacking than the cool pillow case his sister MADE him! Kaitlyn came home from her first sewing class and made him this pillow. She made a pillow case for herself at class. Both turned out extremely well...


Tommy peeking out at the Christmas lights...he really enjoys looking out the front windows at ours and our neighbors lights. We cause a traffic jam out there between our two homes being lit up!

My mom sent this singing nativity to the kids....goodness years ago. Anyhow it drove us crazy to listen to the singing and story of Jesus' birth. It's so repetitive and it really doesn't have the best quality on the sound. It can give you a headache....BUT really...Kimberlyn is 5 and has it almost completely memorized and now TOMMY is pressing the button like mad to hear it sing and tell the story...

Again when this arrived I rolled my eyes, and thought the kids would NEVER pay attention to it. Boy, was a I wrong. Now that Mom is gone...I'm no longer wishing the singing nativity to break, instead it's "watch out and don't play rough with this special thing..." Darn well amazing how perspective changes when we lose a loved one. As usual, I'm missing Mom and wishing I could thank her for the important things I had no idea were important while she was still with us.
